Pastor White with a class of  Filipino Pastors

In the mid-seventies, while Pastor of Sherwood Hills Baptist Church in Campbelltown, New South Wales, I was privileged to spend a few weeks in the Philippines with Leon Jasper of the Macedonian Missionary Service Foundation; teaching short term Bible Institute Classes. We had twenty-five or so Filipino pastors and workers attending these classes. I enjoyed the time immensely, although in addition to the blessings we received, there were a few very challenging experiences as well. This was a time of great upheaval in the Philippines, when the Communist Huk Guerillas were engaged in a cruel and murderous war against the government and citizens of this great land. The area of Angelos City and the adjacent Tarlac province was the epicentre of their atrocious activities. I was not only privileged to share with those in the classes who were serving the Lord in very difficult and dangerous places, but I also was privileged to visit some of the barrios where they worked and place our evangelism lessons into practical effect

I was blessed to return to the Philippines with my wife in 1998 to attend and participate in a Missions Conference in Cebu City that was being conducted by Brother Glenn Knight. It was a great week as well and we were able to fellowship with some pastors and churches around the Angelos City area where I initially taught in 1977. In our church planting in Australia, we have been privileged to have a number of Filipino families in our congregations and have always found them to be very dedicated believers who love the Lord.
